Sunday Delmo

I did a demo in Baytown yesterday, really a sweet group of women, they have programs going every day, all kind of interesting things.  The color on this is all wrong as usual.  I need photo lessons.

Hard pill to swallow.

I offered to do a 1 day workshop in the Woodlands, (my home).  They can't fill it.  AM disappointed.

For Dale,

I am getting worse at photoing my work, obviously I need lessons.  This is the finished piece which I have shown in a couple places. I use this as a sample for my students taking landscape collage.  I have gotten more interested in this technique and have started working on large canvas pieces , if you check my recent work I am referring to the Austin Canyon pieces.  Thank you for your interest, Dale, it is now for sale.

My friend Joan has a lovely daughter named Amber, she dressed as a belly dancer for a costume party, couldn't resist doing a painting.  It is on a prepared surface on canvas.

A demonstration tonite for WAL

I will hopefully turn this 20 minute sketch into a finished piece of art for my demonstrations for the Woodlands Art League tonite.  Wish me luck.

section of new painting

I simply cannot get the color photo correct on my new paijting so am including just a section.  It is Austin Canyon 3

What to enter?

Am trying to figure out which painting to enter in the membership show at the Watercolor Society.  It would really be a bummer not to get in.  Vote?  I have others. This is Galveston 2.

Great day with Gloria

It has been so long since I did Gloria, was so happy to get the opporunity to draw her again.

a favorite model

a rare treat when Josianne shows up.  She is such a pro, you can't go wrong.

Moral Ambiguity

This piece will be showing at Winter Street  at the opening of "Moral Ambiguity", beyond Black and White.
It is large 30" x 40" and hope that it gets a good reception.  I am taking it down tomorrow, show opens later.

Watercolor Society workshop

I did a Collage Landscape workshop at WASH this past weekend.  Everyone had a great time and enjoyed something new.  This is one of my demos, not finished but oh well, good start.

A Challenge

am attempting to do tatoos, now that is a challenge.  They need to move with the body, not just sit on top of the form.  Interesting.

Under the weather

Have been laid up for a week with a bad back.  Reworked this piece for next class.

Art Expo

For those who figured I would never finish it, here it is, finished...there was some great work in that class.  Wish I could see it all.

Another Fish

Can't resist doing the fish.  I would love to have a specimen of every fish in the ocean. That could take a while.  This one has ancient Dutch Maps in the background.

Art Expo at the Marriot

twenty seven students at the Art Expo class, not sure I ever got to talk to them all.  It was alot of fun and alot of good art was being produced.

Fingers crossed. Will report back

Some quick  sketches

Art Discourse

Galveston Palm tree

This piece is on canvas26 x 28" mind seems to be at the beach.

Got to draw Michael yesterday, he is a really fun guy to draw and enjoyed it.  This piece is just one that I did trying to make a composite of him.

Anyone who draws at the Watercolor Society recognizes Josianne.  Fabulous Model.

I have so many things in the works, and none finished.  I also have a couple of landscapes and a couple of abstracts waiting completion..  Have been working alot, but still am way behind.  Tomorrow and Thurs are more model sessions, which I don't want to miss , however guess I better stay home and paint awhile after that..  It is not a bad problem, have had nothing in the works before, and that is a whole lot worse.  FYI am doing a landscape collage workshop at the Houston Watercolor Society in August, if you are interested.   Also a shorty 4 hour one for Art Expo in July.  Contact me at if you are interested.

Realized I have neglected posting, am going to get right again

I started a critique group called "Art Discourse".  We had a great time.  We had about 12 artists with all kinds of art and art thoughts.  It was really rewarding to find a really good group and think we will all benefit from it.

THis piece is completely covered in collage.  Before I started painting at all I covered it all with various papers, etc.  I visited my daughter in Austin and she lives on a nature preserve, it inspired this painting.  It is on canvas 24 x 36",  am wanting to do canvas pieces all of the time, but size restrictions prevent it when I travel around.  Am thinking I will enter this in the Archway open show in July.

THis is a a quick sketch of Josianne from last week.  Like this one and will finish it.  I have been busy, but need to get back in the groove and post work.

My landscapes from Colorado/ Tomorrow starts "Art Discourse"

Took a landscape workshop from Gerald Brommer in Colorado, I had beach pictures for my references, so I did beach pictures. I had to come home and actually finish the pieces, we were to do 2 a day and had about 4 hours in which to do this.  Did not work for me.  Anyway the first is my favorite, but found it dull when I got home. I put a transferred fish on it to make it more interesting.  The idea was to do the same picture in bright light and night light.  Was not overwhelmed by this idea, but straight ahead.  I was the only person there using collage but others were interested.  I have a lot of ideas for more landscapes and am having a lot of fun with them. However, I am really bored with small paintings on paper and want to move onto large canvas.  Guess I can do both.

A friend of mine wanted me to do a critique session downtown.  I finally agreed and we had a tentative meeting which was a lot of fun. Tomorrow is the first "official" meeting and we have 12 or 13 peopl…

We have started a model session at the Conroe Art League

It is alot of fun to have a good model session so close to home.  I am hoping they have the support to keep it going.  I love drawing from the model.
