For Dale,

I am getting worse at photoing my work, obviously I need lessons.  This is the finished piece which I have shown in a couple places. I use this as a sample for my students taking landscape collage.  I have gotten more interested in this technique and have started working on large canvas pieces , if you check my recent work I am referring to the Austin Canyon pieces.  Thank you for your interest, Dale, it is now for sale.

Amber

My friend Joan has a lovely daughter named Amber, she dressed as a belly dancer for a costume party, couldn't resist doing a painting.  It is on a prepared surface on canvas.

What to enter?

Am trying to figure out which painting to enter in the membership show at the Watercolor Society.  It would really be a bummer not to get in.  Vote?  I have others. This is Galveston 2.

A Challenge

am attempting to do tatoos, now that is a challenge.  They need to move with the body, not just sit on top of the form.  Interesting.

Another Fish

Can't resist doing the fish.  I would love to have a specimen of every fish in the ocean. That could take a while.  This one has ancient Dutch Maps in the background.

IN THE WORKS

I have so many things in the works, and none finished.  I also have a couple of landscapes and a couple of abstracts waiting completion..  Have been working alot, but still am way behind.  Tomorrow and Thurs are more model sessions, which I don't want to miss , however guess I better stay home and paint awhile after that..  It is not a bad problem, have had nothing in the works before, and that is a whole lot worse.  FYI am doing a landscape collage workshop at the Houston Watercolor Society in August, if you are interested.   Also a shorty 4 hour one for Art Expo in July.  Contact me at Lizhill4u@aol.com if you are interested.

Realized I have neglected posting, am going to get right again

I started a critique group called "Art Discourse".  We had a great time.  We had about 12 artists with all kinds of art and art thoughts.  It was really rewarding to find a really good group and think we will all benefit from it.

THis piece is completely covered in collage.  Before I started painting at all I covered it all with various papers, etc.  I visited my daughter in Austin and she lives on a nature preserve, it inspired this painting.  It is on canvas 24 x 36",  am wanting to do canvas pieces all of the time, but size restrictions prevent it when I travel around.  Am thinking I will enter this in the Archway open show in July.

THis is a a quick sketch of Josianne from last week.  Like this one and will finish it.  I have been busy, but need to get back in the groove and post work.

My landscapes from Colorado/ Tomorrow starts "Art Discourse"

Took a landscape workshop from Gerald Brommer in Colorado, I had beach pictures for my references, so I did beach pictures. I had to come home and actually finish the pieces, we were to do 2 a day and had about 4 hours in which to do this.  Did not work for me.  Anyway the first is my favorite, but found it dull when I got home. I put a transferred fish on it to make it more interesting.  The idea was to do the same picture in bright light and night light.  Was not overwhelmed by this idea, but straight ahead.  I was the only person there using collage but others were interested.  I have a lot of ideas for more landscapes and am having a lot of fun with them. However, I am really bored with small paintings on paper and want to move onto large canvas.  Guess I can do both.

A friend of mine wanted me to do a critique session downtown.  I finally agreed and we had a tentative meeting which was a lot of fun. Tomorrow is the first "official" meeting and we have 12 or 13 people total.  That is probably as many as we can do in the 2 and 1/2 hour format.  At any rate, should be a lot of fun and a lot of different art.
