Try a workshop at Wenmohs ranch in the Hill Country Just google Wenmohs Ranch to take a look. I am doing a workshop there Feb 29, March 1 and 2. It's always fun and you can stay right there in the bunkhouse with all the other artists. DenaWenmohs owns the ranch and they even fix dinner for you after a hard days work. I did it last year and it was alot of fun . I am hoping for some new faces this year.

Am teaching a workshop at the new gallery run by the Conroe Art League starting tomorrow.. The city spent a fortune remodeling an old office building in the heart of downtown. It is so beautiful. The workshop room is fabulous, it has the original wood floors. I finished this piece today to use as an example. I always try to have some examples of different kinds of work to inspire the students. . Wish me luck. I also had my website updated this week. It is Lizhillart.com. Take a look.

I am delighted to report this painting got 1st place in the Watercolor Society juried show this month. What a surprise. Now if i can figure out how to get from Conroe (am doing a workshop) to downtown Houston in an hour on Friday...that will be a trick.

These are a couple of drawings I did this week, will attempt to finish the 2nd on on paper, and hopefully project the 1st one to canvas. It is Thanks giving evening and am so grateful for the time to do my art. I am blessed for sure.

This is the original drawing which I have saved, below is the finished piece on 22 x 28" canvas. I project my original image and can save the drawing this way. I have also projected it on a smaller canvas which I will paint later. I think this is successful.

A Couple of Quick Sketches

These are a couple of quick sketches from model classes from today and yesterday. I have been busy painting on canvas an image that I projected from a piece of sketchpaper. This is more or less an experiement , trying to use my images on canvas, rather than on paper all the time. I don't know that I will project either of these images. I tried to do an interesting background before drawing the male model. I will continue to try this method of working and see what happens. I am trying tonite to get some pieces together for the Tomball Art Walk on the 19th. I will be going to the Art Crawl downtown, but agreed to put pieces in Karen Foxworthy's shop, as an image of mine is her logo for the store. Busy time in a busy time of year.

Have been in Austin getting my leftover work from Dragonfly gallery, and just got home this evening. There was a message that this piece got 3rd place at the Houston Watercolor Show today. It was an experimental show, didn't even know it. Was pleased with the honor.

This is my completed demonstration for the art league last nite. I started a #2 piece and dumped a jar of gesso on it. Not my brightest moment. I did attempt to finish it but will edit it later.

I am getting ready to do a demonstration of my work tonite at the Woodlands Art League meeting. I think I will take this drawing I did yesterday at the Watercolor Society to show. As she was a nude, and they don't want nudes, I will put clothes on her. Therefore, I have gessoed out in a couple places. I will show how I use collage to finish the work and adjust . Hopefully they will like. I have a backup if need be. I don't like to do demos, as I always get performance anxiety. But carry on.

I showed some of my work today at Karen Foxworthy's shop in Tomball. They had an artwalk. Then visited a friend in the hospital on life support. I need to get back to my work as I have many ideas cooking. This was the only satisfactory 20 minute drawing I got on Thursday.

My workshop at Wenmohs Ranch was a big success. They had been without rain since January, It rained us out Sat. afternoon. I am so glad for them. I am getting ready to go to Wenmohs ranch for a workshop. I have never been but have always heard about it. It is supposed to be a working ranch. My friend Annette and her daughter are going, her daughter is taking my workshop, her mother can roam the ranch. Annette Palmer is a great artist, she doesn't need my help. This I did as an example for class, and then liked it myself.

I just have to now label everything and do some other things and I'm ready. LeQuattro show at Betz gallery in Montrose is the 3rd, and Austin show opens the 8th. I have been trying to decide what to put where, but since the name of the show in Austin is "The Figures of Liz Hill", that pretty much means all figures to Austin. I so hope someof my friends that way will attend.

I have a class tomorrow and promised everyone I would do a finished piece for them. Of course I had trouble today and only got this sketch. The rest were trashcan art. So thought I would post this today, and post the finished work tomorrow or Friday, also want to post some of the students work. This class is probably one of the best groups I've ever had. They are wowing me with their work. So will try to get some good photos of their work and show you all how great they are.

Le Quattro will be doing a show downtown at Betz Gallery in September. Also in September is my show and workshop at the Dragonfly Gallery in Austin. I had surgery on Feb 28, came home this week. At last I am fixed and heading toward health again. I drew and painted yesterday , It felt wonderful. Thank you to all my wellwishing friends online,,I have so appreciated your support. LeQuattro has a show the 19th, cannot attend but am getting work ready for show. It feels fabulous to just show again.

Am so delighted to report I finally got home from my 2nd stint in a hospital. Hopefully my last. My dear friend Roseanne visited me and was kind enough to bring a drawing pad and draw and wash pencil, she made a great subject and was definetly the best day I spent in there. Hopefully there will be more to come.

I have been in the hospital for 2 weeks, my computer crashed and have lost alot of images. Am so glad to get back to work on my first love, art...........haven't done alot over the holidays and now I can reclaim my time. This is a piece done with a new model at the Watercolor Society. I got inspired to use some geometrics, will probably redo later. It is collage and watercolor.

Least anyone think that I am not working, I am. But I have not been happy woth anything I've done lately except for this one. It is 24 x 36", so very big and takes alot of work to get it going. Now that the figure is done, have to address the rest of the picture, and make it all work together.

I went to temple with a Jewish friend of mine, she arranged flowers for the sanctuary and then we both drew them. We decided to call them prayer paintings. What fun. It has a little collage in it.
