Keeping things interesting

Image
They are keeping things interesting at The Houston Watercolor Society, we had a personal trainer for a model yesterday.  Amazing muscles. These are quick sketches.

Wanted to do a more abstract version, yes? no?

the Medina River

This is the spot where we stayed over Thanksgiving, wish I could go back at Christmas.

Watercolor Society

Image
We had a weightlifter on Wednesday, this was probably the only thing I got worth saving, however as suggested by a friend, may make it a companion piece to "The Morning After", good idea.

Houston Art Society Demonstration

Image
Did this at Houston Art Society monthly meeting today.  Another Ghost Ranch painting, not finished, but got so wet couldn't do anything more until it dried.  Lovely group of people.  Am giving a landscape collage workshop this week, friday, saturday sunday at the Houston Watercolor Society.  I think there are still openings if anyone is interested.

Patricia/ Watercolor Society/

Image
Cute Patricia , a fun model to do with my favorite socks- I have  been doing pictures of her for years.  Never get tired of it as she gives so much of herself to the session.

Friday Morning Art Attempt

Image
I have been painting portraits on Friday Morning for awhile in the Woodlands.  They are changing the day to Wednesday , that knocks me out, that is Watercolor Society model session day.  Sorry to have to give this up, have enjoyed it.

Ghost Ranch Crow

Image
THis is a crow I painted and collage while at Ghost Ranch.  The collage is mu own handmade paper.
I had been saving it for the right project.  This is definetly it.

Another New Mexico painting

Image
I already gave this to a friend who watches my cats when I am out of town.  She has a new house, so it made the perfect housewarming present.  Anyone who takes care of my babies deserves my art.

a demonstration from Galerie Spectra workshop

a quick demo from the workshop last weekend.  Put everthing but the kitchen sink in this one.

Ghost Ranch Landscape, October 2015

Image
This is the first landscape I did in Ghost Ranch.  The landscape is outstanding no matter where you look.  The light keeps changing and you are looking at another painting every hour or so. Facinating place to landscape paint, I can see why Georgia O'Keefe fell in love with the area.  We had a tour around the ranch and a tour or the O'Keefe home.  Everything was very inspring and I have enough landscape photos to last me the rest of my life.

Working more on my Galveston Bathing Beauties, am in the middle of trying to sell my house, this is not conducive to being relaxed and creative.  Miss my art so much.

Exciting Nite in Sugarland

Image
My piece "The Morning After" won first place in the Mixed Media division at the Sugarland art invitational..  There was alot of fantastic work at The Sugarland Art Center , a wonderful venue for artists. I taught a class there a couple years ago and am sceduled to do another one next year.  Got to see alot of old friends at the same time. Fun.

Wonderful Galveston beauty

Image
Had so much fun drawing from Vancie, a new model at the Watercolor Society, but not new to Galveston, they are familiar with this treasure:

after Galveston

Still thinking about the beach, here are some retro bathing beauties, on canvas, 11 x 14

Gloria, as much fun as ever

Image
A treat yesterday at the Watercolor Society, we drew Gloria again, she puts so much into her work it is a pleasure to draw her.  Never get tired of doing it, she has such character. Am leaving tomorrow for Austin, need a daughter and grand daughter fix.

Work back from Galveston

Image
The show in Galveston is over, it was quite sucessful and would like to show more work there.  Sold "Josianne" again.  This woman inspires me .  I still have the painting I did of Josianne as a white girl.  Apparently God meant her to be black.

Josianne again

Image
Eventually I will get tired of painting her?
In the meantime, she's still my favorite, and
have quite a collection.

Back from Galveston

Image
Will bring this back home on Thurs, am picking up work from the Tyler Studio show in Galveston.  This piece has been so popular I am planning on making prints, which is a new thing for me.  Will look into it next week.

More work from the weekend

Home from Dallas to waterlogged Houston

Image
Got home from Dallas, am amazed at the weather, dark and grim just as it was when I left.  I enjoyed sunshine in the big D.  Did a workshop at Teta Smiths Studio.  She is a real gem, I so enjoyed meeting and working with her.  The class was top notch and will post a slide show when I get rested up in a day or so.  She  has a wonderful group of  artists and they are so much fun.  Will never pass up a chance to teach there.

ART Discourse

Image
Have a critique group that meets once a month, tomorrow is the day, Super talented people and I am lucky enough to get to lead it.

My daughter's birthday painting

Image
When your daughter asks for a painting you have to comply, even when it is a strange paper size (32" x 28") you do it. It  required extra large paper, now that I have a roll, I can make some more strange size paintings.  Hopefully it looks good on their fireplace.

A favorite model

Am working on images of Josianne, this one is the first image I have done.

A demonstration for Baytown

Image
Have done the belly dancer before, couldn't resist doing it again.

Landscape Collage

Image
This is a demonstration I did for the people at Wenmohs Ranch.  On the last day we did landscape collage.  After I came home I put a catfish in with the new transfer method I learned.  It works great.   This is Galveston, you can't see the many layers online.

Join me in Dallas for 3 days of working from the model, in the Big "D"
