nude from Saturday

I'm going to finish this out in charcoal only, should make for an interesting slant, hope.

Not Done

Have redone this enough to make myself crazy.  I will finish it and post when it is really done.

Layering

Did this piece to show students about layering with Rice papers.   Think it needs some more work, but don't want to overwork.  There is a fine line.

Seaside

My Conroe class has been wanting to do a collage landscape, so I tried this one.  The shine on the papers makes it difficult to photograph, but it was fun to do.  Feedback?   The darks reflect light and look lighter, may work on it some more and repost.

Background music

Have been working on different surfaces.  I have a great friend who gave me old sheet music, this one is actually the "Lord's Prayer" but you wouldn't know it.  I also used maps for the dress.  Enjoy experiementing and will probably do some more.

It's amazing

It's funny the way you cannot see problem areas when you first finish a painting, but just put it on the computer and errors are screaming at you.  Need to fix this...

Forgot

Forgot to post this piece with the announcement it got an honorable mention at the member's show at the Watercolor Society of Houston.  Big opening as there were something like 120 pieces juried in the show.  An honor to get an award.

Back from Dallas

These are paintings I did in the Ted Nuttall workshop.  I find he paints way too slow for me, I sim;ly cannot put things down that slowly.  However seem to have my own style, so maybe just need to go with that.

Canvas piece

This piece is really difficult to photograph, as it has gold gesso as the base.  it reflects light back into the camera.
This piece was accepted into the members show at The Watercolor Society.  It also has alot of gold and doesn't photograh very well.  I doubt that it will place or even get an honorable mention as it is not a traditional watercolor.  Lately, it seems the very traditional work is on the winner's wall.

Both paintings

Both of these paintings got honorable mentions over the weekend at the Conroe Art Show.  They have asked me to extend my classes another 5 weeks and I have agreed to do so.

My latest project

Lately I have gotten myself into some really not fun things.

I am a member of the &eight artists, which consists of 8 artists that show at Hubbel and Hundson, a high end grocery and food store.  Our project consists of all 8 of us doing 2 parts of a huge painting, these are 18 x 18".  Am so glad to have these done.  This piece will then be auctioned off and donated to a good cause.  I don't do well when I have assignments.  I prefer to stay on taask with my own work..   Sooooooooooooo, they're done.  Need to check the skin tones on the small one, don't think they're that pink.  Am going this afternoon to purchase another camera.  I have fought this old one long enough.

I dropped my good camera, am filling in with my old old one.  Picture quality is not as good, but haven't had time to shop.

Today

Finally had a chance to go to life drawing today.  I tried 2 different papers, the top is canson 90lb. cold press paper, the bottom is paper for acrylic, given to me by a friend.  They both took the paint completely different.  It was interesting to do the same pose with 2 different papers.

Class on Thursday

This is the image I did as an example for my class starting on Thursday.  I am teaching 4 classes in Conroe in Painting and drawing the figure.  They will work from this photo, what a fun model.  This piece is on mixed media paper, what a disappointment.  I do not like the way this paper takes the paint, and watercolor is out of the question.  Oh well, back to hot press.

Fish again

Obviously I am thinking "fish" again, will get back to the figure by class on Wednesday.  This is not finished but not too far from it.  Have trouble with my new camera.  dropped my old one too many times, but sure don't like the new one.  Will probably invest in a new one soon.  If anyone has an idea of a good camera that takes clear pics let me kinow.

Finally done

I have wanted to do some paintings with my fish image.  Since I did not have a current one (the last one sold) I had to do one first.  The background is an antique  Dutch bible.
