October 31
Did the drawing for this last Wednesday at the Watercolor Society. Finished today, it's Patricia , a beautiful young model from Cuba. I worked yesterday to help hang the show at The Studio in the Woods. Will have an opening on Friday nite. I entered 11 pieces, for all the work, am hoping we get a good crowd.

reworked piece
This piece has bothered me since day 1. I have reworked it, but am still not sure it suits me. It's very hard to photograph because of the metallic paint. Have been studying Gustav Klimt, but can't seem to get the hang of it. The detail in this photograph is lost.
Trying to photograph the metallic paint is very difficult.

Back from Austin
My painting below won 3rd place the membership show at the Watercolor Society of Houston. It proves my point, they always like the more traditional pieces.

Brenham, Texas
Will do a demonstration of my collage methods at Brenham tomorrow, picked these 2 pieces (drawings) to do for a demo. We'll see how it goes. I always start my women with a quick 20 minute drawing as these, and take them hopefully to completion.

Saturday, 9-11
We had a large redheaded model today, I used the peeling paper method as I wanted more interest. I think it is successful.

another Klimt inspired painting
I have recently been doing some very decorative things. This is another one. The little hill country publication "Flair" has come out, the piece on the cover is sold, but would like to do some more in that manner. You may see the whole magazine at FLAIRMAG.net.

more experimenting
I prepare the surface before I go to the model session, then paint on it letting the papers define the figure. Draw carefully, value is always a problem. Probably needs more work. Always looks different on blog, probably my poor photography.

a drawing
Went to the Saturday morning nude session, have missed several this summer. We plan on doing a nude show in the fall, I better get busy. This is a 20 minute drawing.
Paint-a-long
Am trying to get some examples together for the Paint-a-long at Fort Bend Art League on Tuesday. I have been a little lazy this August and am short on examples.

Bellville workshop
I did a 2 day workshop in Bellville, Texas at Holland Street Gallery. The gallery is on the city square in Bellville and is like the social center of the town. We had every sq. ft. of that gallery classroom full, and we had a great time. There was alot of great art produced, as well as alot of good conversation. Will go back next year for sure.

Back from Austin/ Beautiful models
I had a wonderful time in Austin giving a workshop at the Dragonfly Gallery on Rosedale. What a great group. Lots of art and lots of laughs. I recommend this venue to anyone interested in doing a workshop in Austin. The owner Nina Mihm is the hostess with the mostest. This is a new gallery in Austin, the work changes monthly and I'm going back to see the next show. As I have a daughter in Austin, I have more than one reason to go back. Nina supplied the models, what a treat. The one on the right is her daughter, if you need a beautiful model call Dragonfly.
